My little baby is 3.
Didn't we just bring him home from the hospital? I know it sounds cliche, but it really feels like just a few days ago Granny was rushing me up to the hospital because I had started having contractions the day before we had our c-section scheduled. And now, he's been with us for 3 years. He's had us on a pretty fun ride so far. Watching his little personality develop has been incredible for us as his parents. He's had some rough times (mom being in the hospital just after he was born, his arm surgery, then his broken arm a few weeks later....) but he always seems to come through smiling, and making us smile too. I hope every parent can feel this much love and adoration for their children.
So, after 6 weeks of being away helping Auntie Kasey, Nick's Granny came back home for his birthday party. He wanted "George" party, so Mommy did her best. We had two cakes, one decorated as Curious George himself, and the other as the 'Yellow Hat'. I made a Piniata shaped like George, and we played pin the banana on the monkey. Uncle Bridger won that game, although I'm pretty sure using your hands to feel around for the target is cheating! Uncle Paul and Auntie Kim came, and gave Nick a really cool present- the Easy-Link, that kids can use to go online to kid-safe websites, and nowhere else on the web. It has an Elmo link, which is Nick's favorite. Granny brought lots of handsome clothes, which we can't wait to wear this fall. They also got him some more electronic games, Nick's favorite. Mommy and Daddy got him a little TV and DVD player for his room- a small one, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles style. He finally slept in his own room last night, which made that purchase worth it for us! We were hoping this would be a bribe to get him out of our bed! Let's hope it works!
Well, it was a great day. Earlier in the day, I took Nick to the zoo and we played on the playground for a while, while Daddy went to SLC to pick up Granny. We are grateful for our family and everyone who loves our little family. Here's to next year!

Birthday breakfast of scrambed eggs. Naked, of course. My children don't like to wear clothes at home. Maybe that's why we don't have company too often....
